Ehh, now i think i understand.
Shinigami and they’re zampakutou were together for a reason. Balance. Without the shinigami the Zanpakutou would go on a rampage and do whatever they want. Thats why we have shinigami. to keep them in check.

Kind of, but not really. The hollow side of shinigami and the zanpaktou are one being. They are the manifestation of the shinigami’s base instincts (for survival, fighting, killing, and the like. That’s all there is to it.
