I saw the post on the front page and recognized that I've gotten a great amount of pleasure out of being loyal to the site and thought that if there was a place to give back I certainly would. So, I offer up myself up to whatever is honestly needed. I could certainly write any reviews that are needed but if something else is needed let me know and I can probably figure it out pretty easily.
Anime reviewer:
1. How long have you been watching anime?
I would say that I have at least been watching anime for 14 years. The first anime I ever watched was Princess Mononoke, followed by Jinro and the obligatory Ghost in the Shell.
2. How much knowledge do you have about anime?
It can be said that I have a substantial amount of knowledge over both anime and manga as one of my favorite ways to spend a day is to find a new series, become immersed and ultimately finish in a day. This brings me not sadness but pleasure because then I get to find something else I may not have heard of that simply astounds. I also have the benefit of knowing a decent amount of Japanese so I get most of the cultural jokes and take great pride in being able to point out different character archetypes that are common throughout different works.
3. Can you put a detailed review together in proper English?
I certainly could. I probably couldn't write walls of text as that isn't my field of expertise but I could certainly sum up the contents for people wanting to read it. I say this because I am a neuro researcher, not a publishing graduate as one of my roommates is.
4. Are you willing to write a test review for us?
Of course, it would only be expected if one is searching for acceptable reviewers that the applicant submit work.
5. Do you have any specific genres you will be reviewing and if so, which?
If there's something that needs reviewing I have no issue doing really anything. I read/watch probably everything. Yaoi/Yuri/Genderbender/really anything is no issue. Junjo Romantica was adorable by the way. If the artwork is good I'm sold. That being said, I would like to continue my delve into some of the older and brilliant works like Black Blood Brothers and the like and continue to introduce oldies but goodies to people who may have overlooked them at one point.
Conclusion : If you find yourself needing help in an area that isn't being covered let me know and I will try to help out as animeavenue as been a consistent and pleasant site to work as a base from.
