he didnt intend to kill sasuke…. he only said that so after he died he wanted sasuke to take his eyes and use them. he planned to die he planned the whole thing since he killed off the uchia clan…orders by madara/3rd hokage. youll understand if you ever read the manga. itachi wanted to protect konoha so he followed orders and sasuke is going to end up wanting to destroy it cause of what they did to his brother
